Woah! That was a bit gothic! Loved the shot of Lol in the bath. Beautifully done. And the one of Shaun sitting in the arm chair.
Vicky McClure was mesmerising. And my favourite character, Trev, said loads! ;D
BTW... What was Gadget dressed as?

Woah! That was a bit gothic! Loved the shot of Lol in the bath. Beautifully done. I was a bit on the fence about the "ghost of christmas past". But it was done well so I don't have any problem with it. Yeah, I really liked the Gothic vibe too-all gloom and shadows. When he appeared in the bathroom, at first I wasn't sure-thought maybe it was done for the benefit of new viewers (there must be some) who didn't have Lol's 'backstory', but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of Mick's ghost taking physical form. Like it was so affecting/overwhelming that he would literally step outside of her troubled mind to torment/haunt her. Sets it up for Lol's emotional/psychic deterioration which is to come (from the spoilish bits I've read-sorry, but this is a 'spoiler alert' thread ). Edit: Is anybody else having problems accessing the forum at the moment. I've been getting pro-boards 'problems' messages last night and today.

Also, LOVED Woody's scene on the scooter when he breaks free from the house.

Here you go-old Stax's record: Edit: random fact...singer Wendy Rene was scheduled to fly with Otis Redding and the Bar-Kays in December 67. She backed out at the last minute to stay home with her new born child.

I remember us bemoaning the lack of Trev dialogue in 86... and then look what happened!

You're welcome. I like the mixing of old school mod/skinhead music and various 80s stuff (Smiths and Tracey Chapman)-to some degree, the late 80s still had many 'tribes.' I think Gadget is following his own, unique path style-wise though It's relatively quiet around here today-even allowing for all the facebook/twitter activity. Maybe people are waiting until they've seen all three episodes. Come on you lurkers, gives us your thoughts ;D

Although I had already seen it in a preview clip, I thought the scene with Woody and his boss worked much better in the context of the entire programme. Woody's got so much in his life to flip his lid over, things can only get explosive.
I liked the reference to East Enders Christmas special being 'well depressing'... I'm wondering if episode 3 (which I presume plays out on Christmas Day 88) will also be depressing... or whether some things are resolved amicably?
Did anyone catch what the vision of Lol's dad was saying. It was all in spooky tones and I didn't quite catch it.
Gadget singing Rick Astley! Brilliant... as someone on Twitter pointed out earlier.. Shane has gone and Rick-Rolled the whole of the UK! ;D

Shane has gone and Rick-Rolled the whole of the UK! ;D I liked the boss scene-Woody waking up to how entrapped he's becoming and the aggression made him all the more all-rounded human. Made me really like him (especially after his inept clownishness in '86) Thought the ref to EE was a nice bit of inter-textuality (oow, get me). No, couldn't make that out either. Gadget can't sing like that Astley bloke (all the singing was terrible, in a good way ), but he moved better ! How wooden was that Lancastrian crooner? According to Metro, both JG and TiE 88 were trending on Twitter last night. And the programme picked up 2.2 million viewers (plus 300, 000 odd on plus 1/4oD)-which is pretty damn good in this multi-media, multi-channel age/context.

Ahh, and Woody's scooter scene... very cool. I'd hazard a massive guess that it was shot on a GoPro camera. Anyone know for sure?

Shaun and Smell are just great together; please don't split them up I bet that ending has filled you with Christmas cheer! Poor Smell. Vicky McClure... mind blowing performance. That scene blew me away. Cinematography is a bit different this time around, shots are a lot more still. Although I did enjoy the Wrestler inspired dragging shot behind Lol as she went to visit Combo. Another superb scene.

Anyone know for sure? nah was too good for Go Pro I'd say or at least from the night GoPro stuff I've edited, but I'd imagine the jolts would have wobbled DSLR footage all over the place? Hacked GH1/GH2? Surely not the F3. EDIT: rewatched it, it has got the wobble, my moneys on a 7D as for the wrestler inspired I was thinking more Made in Britain amazing episode tonight all the stuff with Lol just stunning cannot wait for tomorrow, I was supposed to be going out but think I might have to see this as it airs!

The scene with Lol and the nurse was phenomenal I thought. Quiet and powerful. It felt like it could have been a short film all of its own! Plenty of turmoil already in effect. Holy shit, Smell! Rosamund Hanson's flare up at the end kicked major acting ass! I'm scared of all the Woody turmoil simmering up for the last episode! Hey Ryd, I'm not sure that was Wrestler inspired. That shot has been used in many great films. You could say it was inspired by Pulp Fiction... or, knowing Shane, that it was inspired by Goodfellas! Shall I be the first one to be a twat and mention something I find marginally odd? Okay, if I must! In episode one, when Woody was internally raging during the scene with his boss, he was letting out powerful swears and backtracking to cover himself by claiming it was banter (rather than his barely contained frustration bursting out). Worked really well. In the second episode, I just found it a bit too odd for Woody's character to be 'cunting' and generally being obviously objectionable left right and centre in front of his boss' new partner. Felt weird for Woody's character I thought, because he's always seemed such a decent sort, it doesn't seem right that he would be unable to refrain from being so brazenly offensive to (and around) a totally innocent party. But yes, he's certainly on the brink of something, and he's bottling up a frustration and anger that he's previously never experienced... so, errr, it probably does make sense. I'll shut up now.. Twat over and out! Oh, and as for what the vision of Lol's dad was uttering... I imagine it maybe isn't supposed to be comprehensible. It makes it more troubling not knowing what he was saying.... even as he was saying it.
