Hi, long time lurker, first time poster. Struggling to decide whether I prefer 86 or 90. Love them both, either way! Anybody know where Perry Benson is this time round? Meg's potential fatherhood from 86 was surely an unresolved plot point crying out to be sorted out.

Haha don't give any of it away!

Oh did he? Did they forget to tell us properly? I'm glad he isn't in it. He and banjo come into the film with Stephen Graham and are a pair of horrible bastards. It did irk me a bit seeing them turned into loveable cuddly rogues and part of the young gang.
It's good. It's a lot different from the film as of course was '86. I'm looking forward to seeing how it's concluded tonight.

Please someone put me out of my misery. Just at the end of the play, about 40 minutes into Episode 2, there's a piano riff in the backing track which sounds exactly like the piano line in Professor Green's Astronaut Am I just imagining this? Blinding television, best of British, thanks a million I'm not sure, but it does sound like Ludovico Einaudi. Shane has used this track by him in TIE: I don't think it's this piece, but maybe if you search through his catelogue on youtube, you might find it. Hope I'm not sending you on a false errand-maybe somebody else will recognise it and help you out-but it'll be quite nice listening to it:) Are you the person who was asking about this on facebook btw? Edit: Sorry-that was an unfortunate mistake (now corrected)! If you find it, come back and let us know-somebody else is sure to ask Edit 2: By the miracle of google and youtube Those minor chords-heart-breakers.

It seems as if it is building upto something heartbreaking tho ... I'm wondering (tragic i know) if something happen's to Lol's baby ? Stopping in the house where it all happened in '86 and Lol seeing her Dad all the time ?

I was just about to ask about the whereabouts of Meggy. 90? We have a time traveller in our midst! Haha don't give any of it away! that's the problem with first impressions, you only get to make one! Welcome to the site. Always good to get a lurker out of the shadows! The Meggy thing is weird. He obviously didn't die in the toilet because he was visited by the gang in hospital. Now I come to think of it, I can't remember the last time we saw Meggy. By the way, does anyone know a quick way of compiling todays Twitter Q&A into one long text file?

By the way, does anyone know a quick way of compiling todays Twitter Q&A into one long text file? wasn't he last seen hanging out on that hill waiting for Lol to arrive at the second failed Lol/Woody wedding? I wonder if the lack of Megs is due to Perry Benson's availability. Must be hard when you have a character's story planned out then that happens, like with Harvey replacing Pukey in tie 86. Personally I didn't feel it made sense bringing Banjo and Meggy back anyway, felt a bit forced.

I'm loving this series so far. I like the slower pace and I think the blend of drama and humour is more subtle, like the film.
Vicky McClure is the standout once again. She totally blows me away. I almost don't like watching her, but only because it's so close to reality I can feel uncomfortable. Lol is trapped in despair again, she's haunted. Yet I feel like Vicky has made her a tiny bit softer than in '86. She is able to apologise and seek help. I am so scared for what will happen to her.
The scene with Combo (along with the one with the nurse) was my favourite scene last night. Both actors played an overwhelming range of emotions in a series of tiny, subtle gestures. I kind of want Lol and Woody to get back together, but every time I watch a Combo/Lol scenes, I want them together too!
I feel for Woody... in a very different way from Lol. He has everything going for him, but he doesn't want it. It's like he's just stood still and let his life build up around him. I bet he didn't even ask Jennifer to move in. I think the way Joe has played the humour with underlying sadness and barely contained rage is brilliant. It seems to tie the two previous versions of Woody together.
I agree though that, as annoying as his family and boss may seem, it will seem harsh if and when Woody blows up at them.
Shaun... Tomo plays it well and it's typical teenage behaviour, but grrrrr. It's not even him cheating on Smell that bothers me, it's the barely contained contempt. I think he has been awful to her. Smell might be quite a ditzy little oddball, but she has been good to Shaun. She was the one who brought him back into the gang and comforted him over Milky. She does not deserve his contempt and I am glad she slapped Shaun.
The ghost/vision of Lol's dad disturbs me just as much as when he was alive though. I keep expecting to see/hear him when I turn my light out. Nightmares at Christmas!

Just found the tweet about Meggy from producer Mark Herbert:
"The character Meggy sadly died in 1987 having a dump"
Ahh 1987.. that makes sense! haha... but also not haha. Poor Meggy!
...just noticed that you said 87 all along Gareth! I'm losing the plot!

My money's on him blowing up at Milky. Yeah, Shaun's turned into a right little sh*t. Shane did make him cry though I'm not worried about Smell-that girl's a survivor ;D

Not been on here for bloody yonks... still love me Meadows stuff though... So I had to come here and see cheers to Shane and the lads and the lasses all involved - the past three nights have been belting - top telly! Really good stuff - I thought '86 was powerful, but this - absolutely great drama! All the best to Shane, Cast, Crew - and all members on here! MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! Neil.
