I'll go for 24/7 as Bob's character was named after me.

Oh no, i've gone and spoilt the balance and voted for dead man's shoes. Technically i probably shoud not have voted because i have only seen DMS, but i think it will be bloody hard to beat. I may well be back to vote again after i've watched the other films ,which is very high on my things to do list. The guy two post's up could have at least got shane's name right, all he had to do was scroll up a little.

While I really enjoyed Romeo Brass, DMS is more compelling and the killer soundtrack gets it my vote.

A tough one to call...
Thought Dead Man shoes was stunning and continues to be with every viewing. A mind blowing film.
That said When I first watched Romeo Brass I had the same feeling and it instantly made it's way into my top 10 greatest films ever.
Both of them are the Tops. But so is 24/7 that is a great film, to make a film that good as your first effort takes some beating.

i reckon smalltime is shane's 'mean streets' - ie it may not be the best film he's done but it's the one that'll probably be fondly remembered as the launch pad - my favourite is still Romeo Brass (Goodfellas?)

Very Very close but I'd say 24/7. It's utterly, utterly down to earth, funny as fuck and more about social issues than any of his other films. I love Ken Loach and (some) Mike Leigh but they can't covey an individual or collective sense of humour in working class that Meadows seems to do effortlessly. 24/7 is a perfect example of this.

For me it has to be DMS, Room for Romeo Brass is superb, although after watching DMS it left me with the feeling of being punched in the face. Similar to the feeling after watching irreversible.
