Re watched the episode again today. I really genuinely enjoyed it and I giggled a lot even though I'd seen it on Sunday! Really enjoying Harvey, his impressions of Smell had me laughing out loud. One of my favourite scenes was the one when Woody's mum talks down about Lol's job. I've never been a dinner lady but I was a cleaner and I can't tell you the amount of times I've had that kind of conversation with people! Also Woody on the phone with his dad was another highlight for me. Kelly's throwaway comment to Woody about him actually having a mom and dad was clever too, maybe a bit of foreshadowing there for future episodes?? Overall, I thought it was an enjoyable episode! Nice to have a laugh with the gang for a change! I was born 1993 so I don't have much recollection of the 90s. There were certain things I could relate to like the school dinners but I love seeing 'what was', as it were. Bring on episode two!!

that last episode was fucking brutal. really should've come with a trigger warning (which i'd probably have ignored anyway as i'm rarely triggered but...) if it managed to fuck my head up this much, there's a lot of girls who would be seriously fucking traumatised at seeing a literal representation of their lived experiences dramatised.

Great Episode, the right mix of laughter and drama.
I think Kelly and Combo will have a massive head on collision as this goes on, seen as he took the wrap for her dad's killing and it's obviously going to lead to LoL telling Kelly the truth by the end. I think the breakout star from this series could be Chanel Cresswell as Kelly, if things get deeper and darker then you could see her going onto bigger things thanks to her performance so far in this. I also think Andrew Ellis as Gadget is going to have some moments to shine too, he was always seen as the jokey bumbling fool but tonight showed he's a pretty sensitive and emotional guy. I could see Kelly and Gadget probably running off together by the end of the series.
Flip and Higgy always bring the laughs and tonight was the same. "I don't want to go back it was like American Werewolf in London out there" and "I'm not feeling anything,Harvey" just 3 seconds after taking the E. I loved the stuff at the BBQ. But I especially loved the scene with Shaun and the older hippy woman in the caravan, as a E'd up Shaun talks about his dad. Also loved the last scene with Kelly and Gadget in the field the morning after, very touching.
Any chance anyone could tell me what the song in the field during the first scene, not the second when Kelly is taken advantage off.
This is England 90 has started off very well indeed.

Brilliant second ep. I felt it was going to get dark but didn't see that coming. Very accurate portrayal of substance-induced date rape (I've experienced it twice.) Lovely to hear Gav's voice and music again. Congrats to all cast and crew and especially Shane for keeping it all going. xxx

Loved this weeks episode; the fun at the start did lead me to expect a gut punch second half and it was that and then some. Gadget showing genuine emotion towards Kelly was a really sweet moment; great work from all and looking forward to next weeks.

I must admit, I did wonder if it would be possible to keep up the quality of the drama and interest in the gang over a third series, but focusing on one character particularly, while also showing enough of how the lives of all the characters have moved on, is very effective. Keeping the drama/story line around pivoting around Lol, Kelly and Combo is the right thing to do,I think. This trauma would last a life time and it would be somehow wrong to drop it and move on to something/someone else. The feature length episode promises to be something quite special.

Mr Turgoose absolutely nailed that performance, and definitely seemed like a hard scene to pull off because there's no huge obvious moments of drama or despair, just quiet and considered and beautifully natural. Good to see Flip (and Iggy) letting down their mental guard of bravado a bit! ha

so-so so far.. a bit like of a caricature of the "show" and it has become a weird show. The characters don't melt together as they used to ...and opposition does look artificial. TIE is nearly propaganda now.. it's a joke?
Perhaps it has value in the whole thing, but actually it is relatively poor and actors perform badly (to their standard).... best scene are when actors are out of their mind, or totally uninhibited.. it is too fantastic to be credible.

if it's a portrayed description of drug use, that does fail to catch imagination

Just came here to ask the exact same question. What a coincidence. Anyway, looked up God Song by Toydrum on youtube, and it didn't return any relevant results??

Will be there any Italia 90 clips woven into the script, as this was many peoples highlight of the summer, it was in the credits, briefly, or New Order world in Motion which people can relate too. SM doing a fine job sir.
