Well what can I say probably the best episode ever from the This is England TV Series, with one of the best scenes ever in that dinner scene, with most involved putting career best performances. Andrew Shim for sure stood out as did Joe Gilgun, Chanel Cresswell and Vicky McClure. Cresswell as Kelly is 90's stand out performer so far as is Andrew Ellis as Gadget, he's heartbreaking so far this season and I somehow don't see it ending nicely for him somehow. But I could see Andrew Shim having a big part come the last episode, no way is he letting go of that Combo beating. People moaning about the first two episodes been a little too happy (I'm shocked seen as episode 2 had some heavy moments) but episode three was definitely things getting bleak. I do see things ending badly for one or two of the characters, I think Kelly, Gadget and Combo will have downbeat endings. I could the whole of episode 4 been based around Lol and Woody's wedding and the build up to it maybe. Here's how I could see things ending ... 1. I see either Kelly dragging poor Gadget into becoming a Heroin addict(seen as he loves the bones of her) and either him or her OD'ing and one of them dying. I think it be more of a shock if it's Gadget who dies then Kelly. 2. I know it's probably obvious but I do see Milky and family causing Combo some damage, I do see it losing Milky the bond he has with Woody and even Lol. Leaving him all alone. I don't see Combo dying but. 3. I don't see Shaun getting back with Smell (I think we won't see her again). I see the show ending with him though as it comes full circle. 4. Lol and Woody will marry of course, ending the show in a upbeat fashion. Of course I could be way off , but I do see it ending badly for someone in the gang.

The opening with Combo already felt like one of the greatest moments of the This Is England series on it's own, but yeah, definitely the best episode there has been.
What is really foreboding is feeling all of the plot strands from years of This Is England all getting tied up in a huge choking knot (in a good dramatic way that is!).

Great scene Dave but that Dinner scene topped it, just powerful stuff. I just watched it again, i picked up on something. I could see something bad happening to someone we least expect, I think it's too obvious that it be Combo, that's just me could see him been given a good beaten but killing him off is a little too obvious . Seen as Kelly told Gadget that Lol killed their dad and he told Harvey (they haven't heard the full story), I could see Gadget and Harvey doing something pretty bad. Seen as Gadget is clearly head over heel's in love with Kelly, I could see the lad doing something stupid to please her. Maybe attacking Lol and Woody getting in the way and ends up getting hurt and dying. Just after watching the 3rd episode for a second time that's one thing i noticed that Kelly didn't tell the whole story to Gadget, and remember him saying he wouldn't let anyone hurt Kelly. I think the last episode is going to be pretty downbeat, but do you think Shane will leave it pretty downbeat at the end. I doubt it.

The dinner scene was amazing; every single person was just amazing; the acting and reaction of them all. I do have a feeling we are going to lose a character in next weeks episode but have a feeling Shane will take it in a way we not expecting.

Great episode last night. I think much of the cause of Kelly and Milky's anger is the feeling that they were excluded from what was going on and that Lol and Woody should have trusted them with the truth a lot sooner.
I have a feeling that Kelly's anger may even be more deep-rooted. Did anyone notice the flashbacks to her Dad when she was being raped in episode 2? Maybe he did abuse her and she has blanked it out for years??
Also
Who do people think Milky was on the phone to? Is he planning to run off with his daughter?
Next week's finale should be brilliant.

Agree, gripping stuff. I want to watch part 4 before posting, but just wanted to put in a word for Michael Socha. He has only a supporting role, but really nice, understated, naturalistic performance. Was that 'Benny' (Johann Myers) from 24:7 in the troop reunion scene? Good to see old faces cropping up (though, I hope I've got the actor right!)*
*Edit: Just imdb'd it and it's not him-or if it is, he isn't credited.

He really is flawless in his acting; loved his transition from pissed off to understanding and to then putting away the shopping

I made exactly the same error on Twitter! ha.... it was Karl Collins in that scene... he played Stewart in 24/7 (the bloke you would pick out as the alpha-male of the 24/7 gang). I asked Mark Herbert on Twitter if it was Johann, and he said yes. ha... but he got confused!

For shame -one of my favourite Meadows films too. Apologies Johann and Karl. Good to see an old face popping up in a reunion scene though.

Last nights episode blew me away. Shane just gets it right every time. I cried pretty much the whole way through '88, and last night bought that back. I don't want it to end, it's going to be emotional! I can't imagine how the cast and crew must have felt when they finished shooting.

Who do people think Milky was on the phone to? Is he planning to run off with his daughter? It must be Kelly, who else would want Combo beaten? Banjo??? Perhaps Milky and Banjo have formed a loving relationship since the 83 incident???

Sounded like a new Gavin Clarke Track perhaps recorded especially, sadly very poignant considering his untimely death. What an incredible episode, the dinner scene is easily one of, if not the best moments in the whole TIE saga. Hate to Jinx but BAFTA's all around for this one. Salute to everyone who worked on that scene. Nice to see Johann Myers pop-up in there and Stuart Wolfenden in the last Ep. Do we reckon we are gonna see some of the old gang back, we've not seen Banjo or Meggy yet, i know Channel 4 cut a few younguns for the TV series and we've not seen Puke, Kes or Pob in years? Have we ever seen any of Milky's family? I know he talks about them in the film just before Combo' attack but can't remember who - Uncles?.

Perhaps Milky and Banjo have formed a loving relationship since the 83 incident??? Holy moly! Only just thought that maybe Milky was on the phone to Pukey! As Morrell said, he's one of the faces that hasn't been in it for years now. Not sure how they'd explain where his character has been, but from the only stuff we know in the original film, Pukey was of course the first of the young gang members to question Combo's racism and get exhiled from the new gang! So it would make perfect sense that he could turn to Pukey after all these years!

I think that phone call was family related. Milky said near the end "I love you too" or something like that, but that still could very well be just a friend. Looking at the cast on IMDB, it seems there's a character named "Uncle Rudy". My best guess is that he was talking to his uncle, as this character has never made an appearance in the series so far.
