The Cannibal Holocaust and City of God. I havnt seen as much movies as you guys. There have been some great titles mentioned in this thread, Nkrow - make sure you seek some of them out. If it's hardcore thrills you seek, make sure you see: Audition (slow to start, but stick with it) Battle Royale The Killer (John Woo) Bullet In The Head Amores Perros Suspiria (Although it's Italian, it's in English) Tenebrae (ditto) The New York Ripper (Ditto though must actors are dubbed) Happy viewing

I recently watched L'Homme du Train which is well worth a watch. It is about two men who lead completely different lives but who realise that they both want the other person's life. It is better than I make it sound...

I really like Oldboy – and contrary to what you lot might think, it wasn’t because of the extreme violence ;D I just found the film compulsive viewing. As the viewer, you’re as in the dark as the lad character as to why and how he ended up trapped in the room and having his strings pulled by an unknown entity. I’ve only seen the film once and can’t say how well it stands up to repeat viewings but I would certainly say that the film was in my top 5 films of 2004. Revenge seemed to be the order of the day back in ’04, what with Oldboy, Kill Bill: Vol 2, Man On Fire and Dead Man’s Shoes. While I enjoyed all four (yep, even KBV2 – many people dismissed it as being inferior to V1, but it’s the better half, IMO) Dead Man’s Shoes is definitely the best of the bunch and certainly the film I’ll keep coming back to.

I could go on and on about why I didnt like it but I'd come across as arrogant haha. So I'll leave it at that.
Maybe I watched it one night where I just wasnt in the mood, also I just didnt care about the main character enough I guess.

Oldboy is an amazing film. Companero what did you think to Man On Fire? I thought it was quite good. I'm a little biased about Man On Fire because I lovce Tony Scott's films - even the ones that I shouldn't (Days Of Thunder, Enemy Of The State, LOL) he's not ashamed about making films to entertain. Anyway, I'd count Man On Fire up there with my favourite Tony Scott films (True Romance, Revenge, The Hunger) - there was a real brutality to the film which actually borders on being sadistic. It was also good to see Denzel Washington blending his good guy image with his new-found Training Day dastardliness. Some film critics attacked the film for being too violent and mean spirited but I say they missed the point. The film spends a good hour developing the relationship between Creasey and the girl, so that when she's taken, you can really empathise with him and in my case, condone his excessive actions!

I showed me Dad Man On Fire at the weekend and he loved it! It's not often now I get to watch films with the Old Man and we both sat with cheesey grins on as Denzel got madder and the violence went crazier. Just like the good old days of pre cert VHS when we both used to sit of a saturday afternoon and watch such delights as The Last Hunter etc... ;D It brought a smile to my face to see me dad chuckle and shake his head with a "fuckin hell" chucked in there as Denzel cut the blokes fingers of and used the cigarette lighter. Good film. Oh and Oldboy probably my favourite film of the last decade get's better with repeated viewings, I noticed the other day when watching it for the time where the villian gets the pattern of the parcels from (purple triangles on a lilac background). See if you can spot it

Oh and should I see La Haine? someone convince me La Haine is superb, Nekrow. Seriously, seek it out immediately. One of the best films of the 90s, without a doubt.
