Has anyone seen Chritiana F, a German film about teenage heroin addicts in Berlin in the 70s. Its got a cameo from Bowie in it (but don't worry, hes not acting, hes playing hes singing at a gig). The grimmest, best anti-heroin advert you'll ever see. One of those films that you think is excellent but know that you never really want to watch again - do you know what I mean?

That sounds interesting, who directs it? Is it out on DVD?
Has anyone mentioned Lilya 4 Ever?

I'm a bit of a gritty war film buff and two of the best ever are foreign.
"Come And See", a 1985 Russian film about Belarus partisans fighting the Nazis in 1943. Pretty much makes "Schindler's List" a tame walk-in-the-park in comparison. Absolutely incinerates itself on your mind once you've seen it.
"Brotherhood" is South Korea's most expensive film. It's about two brothers, forcibly sent to the front to fight the Communist North. Some spectacular special effects, and a fantastic storyline to boot.
Both are now available readily on DVD here. Oh, and I'll vouch for La Haine as well. Brilliant.
Other favourites are:
Amelie A Very Long Engagement Oldboy City Of God Bande à Part.

I've been reading a fair bit about Come And See lately, I'd like to see it. Think I might have to buy it.
Any fans/critics of Almodovar?

Any fans/critics of Almodovar? I've not seen much of his stuff, to be honest - saw Matador, Live Flesh and Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! and wasn't overly impressed with any of them...

Ive been watching a few foreign film lately so i'll stick my two peneth in.
Yet again the beat my heart skipped, i've mentioned it twice but it's that good.
13, a couple of you have seen it already, very good modern film noir which takes a simple idea and it works well.
Black cat white cat, a friend made me watch it and it is just maddness.
The star maker, great film by a guy who did another great film i can't remember, maybe cinema paridiso?
Pusher, and Bleeder. Both by a dutch (i think) director grim and breath taking. Great lead actor in both films.
Fear X is an american film by the same dutch guy co written by hurbert selby jr just before he died, strange Lynch esc film with turturro in the lead.
Some others i liked, Irreversible, doberman, something like chunking express, Head on. cant remember the one i meant to big up so i'll get back to you.

I recommend Bad Education. Thank you! I'll seek it out at some point, then... Best foreign language films I've seen this year are Tsotsi and Paradise Now - both superb.
