Hi jill, I wasn't assuming you was - I apologise if that's how it came across However, I suppose the more I post, the more I'll get involved Perhaps the giz a job comments would be more tolerable if there's a "designated section" - instead of having random posts every now and then I too think it's nice to see people 'making an effort' in their career so to speak... Y'know what else annoys me? People who have one post and use it to complain - I mean how dare they!? Like that one recently, I can't remember the name of the person who started it, about Somers Town! grrr, that grinds my gears - why waste your time? Zoe ;D

Hey, I know that I'm probably classed as one of these, as I've posted less than 10 times, but it's only because I find it hard to join in with conversations in the threads; as I mentioned in my Hello bit in the new members area, it took me a while to pluck up the courage to join the forum ;D But that's just me! Also, there are many people before me who've have said what I think anyway - this can also become too tedious if things are written over and over again! I agree that the 'giz a job posts are annoying - if you want an acting job, go and get one/find one!! That's what a whole range of other actors and actresses do Zoe

fanofmarek, I think you've got it spot on...I felt the exact same! This annoys me; many people who dislike Shane's films, (I know of some ) in my opinion, usually do not know or fully understand the background to any of Shane's films... I for one watched this film last night for the first time and enjoyed it very much - a long with all other Shane Meadows' films

I'm not sure whether this has been mentioned before, but I am sort of interested in this sort of iconic history. By this I mean, how life sort of is what it is now because of her "ideas of politics" all those years ago. It came about when I started learning about the "long sixties" (1959-1975) for my A level, but the topic ended the year she became Party Leader in 1975. After this chapter, I learned about the growth of multiculturalism to the year 1975. Confusing? Anyway, I know of some people who can't stand Margaret Thatcher, but, I'm sure there are people who liked her. So, as I wasn't born, I wondered if people could tell me about their opinions of Margaret Thatcher; whether she was both good and bad, or just plain bad? There is no point to this, I have finished my A level, but I'd like to carry my research further as I find this era particularly interesting! Thanks for reading, Zoe x

... but, as I'm new please bare with me! I think Shane Meadows is a fantastic director who has a certain persona about him that makes him original and 'different' from other directors I know of. I don't know what it is about his films, but there's something at the core that really etches away at me; something that is pure 'raw-ity'. I have only ever seen This is England and Dead Man's Shoes, but those films have to be in my top 3 films! This is England has to be my all time favourite film...I can understand why TIE is an 18 certificate, but I don't think it's anything that a 15 year old couldn't cope with, which was the age I was when I first watched it on film4 The first time I watched it, my reaction was total wow, it's so powerful and strikes right to the core...it's a film I can watch over and over, and not get bored of And I think it's disgraceful that people take the WRONG message from the film...kind of ironic really If it wasn't for my English teacher, I don't think that I would have ever really discovered Shane Meadows' films. He said that he'd seen a film called This is England and would recommend it to anyone - but he's always been a Shane Meadows fan. We have long discussions in class about the films and we got into conversation about We Were Faces (I think it's called). He even compares Dead Man's Shoes to Of Mice and Men !! In a way, my English teacher introduced me to these films after talking about TIE in class and then he recommended me to watch Dead Man's Shoes, which is sensational I think Anyway, I'd better stop rambling... Thanks for taking the time to read this (It took me a long time to pluck up the courage to write on the forum) Much love fellow fans, Zoe x ;D
