I would like to see you make a film that looks at the in's and out's of someone making a break with a lifestyle they are so immersed in, that it would seem impossible to give up. Effectively i'm talking about being lost in the haze that is drug abuse. People should realise that you are not a junkie if you only do smack or crack, any addiction to any type of drug reduces your life to revolving around that addiction and feeding it. I think with the right young actor you could direct a performance out of them that gets the point across without being patronising, and also is a marker for any viewer as to what you are trying to express.

Having read through what other members have said they would like you to make films about one person said drug abuses. Well MY FILM which is called My Glamours Life, is about such a thing, most of the film is based on actual experiences of mine and close friends. but haven lived in west London all my life and watch this place become a fucking shit hole because of drugs and watch my friends fucking it all up for nothing make me want to say something about it. Not in the crappy Hollywood way it been done, or the football hooliganism way the brits do it, but honestly tell a story of addiction.

They are common place round here in Notts. If i want to know about things like that, i have friends & family who have far more real and chilling experiences who i can pick up the phone to. I believe that Shane's audiences are savvy with that side of life anyway, so making a film about it isn't really a cinematic departure for the viewer - it's 3 hours of normal life for most people in this day and age. Film should be intricate and above all, interesting - drug addiction is very very boring. And drug addicts themselves are even more boring! I have known and met a few....

I get what you are saying gomez, but don't you think DMS pretty much tackles the subject in a different way than most films that look at drug abuse do? It isn't in the same vein as Nil By Mouth, but i see a definate stance against drugs in the film.

What about a sequel to This Is England?
That Is Scotland?
If that's a massive hit, which of course it would be - or critically acclaimed and loved by us if not, follow it with, Over here is Wales!
Then, of course, Don't Forget Northern Ireland! Monkey genius!
C'mon, I'm joshin' whitcha... ;D
What ever you choose to do next it will be ravenously grabbed by me, having been starved of refreshing and gorgeous and powerful British film making since TIE put a boot through the big white rectangle!

King Of The Gypsies for sure. Since reading the book I've been picturing the Doncaster Races beating in Walter Hill style slow-mo. Failing that, the world's crying out for a Billy Childish biopic.

Hi Shane, new to the site but big fan of your movies for a few years. I voted for the Bartley Gorman film to be made as I've read the book and think it'll be a good film. Saying that though, I'd like to see you make a film about a Bouncer's life (er sorry, Doorman or Security advisor ... depending on who you speak to) or about a hell raising biker who goes straight after a near death experience but his biker brothers won't let him go easy as he knows to much about the gang and their money making activities. Tempted Shane? ?

I voted for Sawnoff, mainly because heist movies are fucking cool!
Is it gonna feature a russian Mob guy called Sergei "Sawnoff" Zhukovsky who's weapon of choice is a sawn off shot gun?
