I have to say.. I dont like this thread much at all. I know its just harmless critisism (and the critisism your giving it is weak) but the film really doesnt deserve it, especially when the makers of the film are on the site. (not implying they cant take critisism, its just stupid to do it as anyone that does have critisism clearly loves the film) The film is perfect IMO and this talk of changing it and whatever being to quick isnt much fun so I'm out. Hyde you are taking Meadows Maniac to new extremes matey ;D Don't worry yourself it is just something to talk about as much as anything else!

Haha!
I'm all for talking about the film but can we not talk about its good points (it has so many)?? or I suppose we already have havnt we? and this is the next step....
Ok, having thought about it a little more, and looking back all the critisism put towards it, has been defended with other peoples opinions on it etc. Which is a positive thing. I suppose also its not like you can help the critisisms you have.. so.. maybe I wont stay clear of this thread afterall and just state my opinions on any critisism it gets.
Haha yeah maybe I did go a little crazy there....

i understand what you were saying hyde it just sounded a little like you didn't want others to criticise the film thats all.
And i wasn't saying you were arse kissing just that even though it is a meadows fan board anyone should be able to say what they want whether it is for or against a shane film.

i also thought that the opening segment with roland rat was over long but i am 44 and did not need introducing to the mood of 1983, my wife however thought it put her in the moment perfectly, so its a case of horses for courses really . as for the accents being all over the place in the eightys familys moved all over the country looking for work you only have to visit corby in northants...........

I've said in another thread that I think the accents thing is great. The film would have been a lot weaker if Shane had limited the cast to one specific accent. I for one am hoping we get to see a lot of these deleted scenes on the DVD, or on the site. I'm also still hoping for the karaoke scene from A Room For Romeo Brass! (hint hint )

I never choose people based on accent, i always choose people based on the chemistry of how they fit into the group. For me, the gang are a right mish mash of shapes, sizes and 'accents', but they feel right and that's the important thing from my perpective.
I tend to cast one person at a time, by which i mean, once a new member of the cast is 'cast', i then bring them and anyone else on board along to the next casting session so that the next person to be cast can work alongsode those already on board. This allows me to put people together based on how they interact, rather than photo's and guesswork.
I know what Hyde is getting at though. It can be a bit wank when people pull the threads before others have had chance to see the film. When Paddy tells me what he thinks is wank in a film I end up looking out for it and that get on my tits as I would never have noticed it without prompting, he is a critical alien! So if you wanna chew the cud on the good or bad, it should really be done in spoilerland.

It's weird that some people have picked up on the accents. That's something that would never even cross my mind... and even thinking back, I don't see how that could be something that people feel is a bit weird. People move about... how weird is that? Not at all.
Credit to tonyyeboah though, because he did label this thread (SPOILERS) from the very beginning. Why people who haven't seen the film are still taking a look is anyone's guess.

I don't think there is any harm in identifying things you think could have improved something, aslong as you are not doing it for the sake.
End of The Day, This Is England is one of the best film's I have ever seen (I know I'm not alone there as enough people and reviews have agreed) and I am over-joyed to know I was a part of it.

That's the thing... I think everyone who has commented in this thread bloody loves the film. I'm sure it was only started to provide more fuel for chat! I too am over-joyed that I was a part of it.... hahaha. ;D I can't wait to see it again.

There are good and bad points to every film, even the best.
But why does it feel like cheating on your girlfriend if you mention bad points of TIE?

Maybe we should create a new section called 'The dark side' where people can list ways of improving my films, suggest people who would/could have done it better and maybe plan an assasination. What do you think?
