I have been holding back on this one a bit as I wanted to know it had at least a 50/50 chance of seeing the light of day. Myself and Mark Herbert are in talks with C4 at the minute about the possibility of doing a TV series to follow on from TIE. It would take place in 1986 and use most of the cast and crew from the film (barring the ones that got on my tit's of course) and would run for six epsiodes over the summer holidays of that year. Initially, I wasn't too into the idea of a 'Spin-Off' but once me and Mark started heading down memory lane, a whole platter of memories came flooding back to me and the old juices started flowing. So I sat down to brainstorm some possible ideas and came up with the first two series outlines in about an hour (vision express!). The first series being set in 1986 and the second being set in 1990. Once the pen hit paper it literally wrote itself and I have fallen in love with the idea of getting this one off the ground. The big difference between the film and a series would be the chance to explore more of the characters and in much greater depth. So some episodes would feature all the gang (barring the ones that I have killed off in a 1985 plane crash or moved to hemel hempstead) and some may just focus on one or two characters. But the look and feel of the film will remain, It will be shot on the same 16mm film cameras in similar locations and will be all new stories rather than a tired rehash of the original (Such as the Lock Stock series etc). Anyhow. I'd love to know what you guys think of the idea??? The first script will be submitted in the next month or so, I will let you know what C4 think.

City of God did very well as a spin-off TV series, so it's completely feasible. Good luck with that. But please, no Joanie Loves Chachi type stuff...

Well, I'd watch it - sounds like a good idea to me - "Boys From The Black Stuff" was a particular favourite of mine, and highly acclaimed - and that was a one off from the drama "The Black Stuff"... the following series of course focussing on individual and group members from the first... So aye, I'd give it a chance - definitely! N.

As long as you have total control and your ideas and scripts dont get watered down by the Ch4 people. Id love to see what the characters go on to do.

I'd watch it for sure. If only because its Directed by you Shane.... that's assuming you would be directing all the episodes? Either way even with the connections to TIE i'd watch it.
If i'm honest i'd rather see another feature, not on TIE but just another one in general. TV series aint my thing... can't keep up with them. But I would definitely watch this, and i'm looking forward to it.
