Mackerel juice!
Jill, I'm confused about you saying a welcome return for Donny (or danny). Where, what, when, who? haha The prison guard from the movie was called Donny.. he wasn't in it... unless of course the copy I saw had a bit missing.
This episode was back on form though wasn't it! It definitely wasn't as subtle as the old days though! haha... Phone book batterings and rampant belching! I agree though about the phone book beating being hilarious on some kind of instinctive level... much like seeing shopping trolleys and general trash getting lobbed about. Always makes me laugh, because the simple act of chucking stuff about without a care says volumes about a character. More effective than having a character spout a load of old expositional waffle!
The whole story was great though... community spirit being the essence of the show and everything.
Jacob is Phil Collins' son! Not only that, he's obsessed with Julian (I was wondering what the new look was all about! haha).
It was great that they didn't have to go for the obvious gags when Lucy wandered in when the mouth-to-mouth was going on. That's Trailer Park Quality!

Well, maybe I''m just getting names muddled-up? But isn't Donny (or Danny, as Ricky calls him) also the off camera character/voice that yells random stuff (voiced by Mike Smith)? So, ' they're my decent clothes' and 'Have another drink Ray'? He, he. Yeah, Jacob's Phil Collin's son??? But then again George Green and ? committing attempted murder-WHAT THE FUCK?! As Bubble's says after the court room summing up: 'preposterous'. I think even the cast and crew know we're not going to swallow all this baloney ;D But like I say, it doesn't mater really, because the entire 22 minute romp was marvelous fun ;D. I loved all of it-including the very precise number of times that Lahey needed to thump Ray And Lahey's white vest and Y fronts!! I wondered what the deal was with Jacob's 'tash-as you'll see from my earlier post, I thought this was some terrible '70s porn star persona (likely candidate for one of J Roc's 'tasteful' celluloid masterpieces, but no....it means 'gaylord' ha, ha! Don't know what it was about the telephone directories that cracked me up; maybe because there's a 'reason' for their employment in the first round of beatings, but not in the second?? It's a bit all over the place really isn't it, but I'm sort of enjoying the ride now....it could go anywhere. Julian's very, very anonymous at the moment tho' isn't he?

On the subject of Donny (or whatever he's called). Can't remember which episode, but there's a massive gun battle raging in the park and during a momentary pause in hostilities, Donny yells out: KEEP GOING. DON'T MIND ME. Ha, ha. Quality.

I have to admit to loving all three episodes so far. I know there have been a few changes but for the most part it still feels to me like it always has done. I actually loved the scene with Ray and Bubbles in ep 2 when Ray loses the plot and needs a jump start. As you point out though ep 3 is beginning to tie it all together and there is nothing like a TPB court scene to lift it up a notch. Tremendous ;D

Dave, I am a huge fan of TPB, I started off with Bubbles being my favourite character but I think the guy who plays Mr Lahey is an absolute fuckin comedy genius! Everything about him, his timing and the way he plays pissed, he is shit hot!

Everything about him, his timing and the way he plays pissed, he is shit hot! Praise be! Another TPB fan! The guy that plays Jim Lahey is John Dunsworth, and yes he is a comedy acting genius! Did you know his real life daughter is Sarah in the show (her real name being Sarah Dunsworth).

Series 3 Episode 4!
Hmmm After last weeks return to some sort of form, I thought this one was very odd indeed. Definitely lacking something, and it wasn't helped by it all being outside of the trailer park for nearly all of it.
Had some funny moments... but sadly I can't currently recall any of them and that can't be a good sign!
I find little stupid things annoying. Bubbles comes out with the exclamation "COCK KNUCKLES!" near the start of the previous episode. Why could it not just be his good old quality "COCK-SUCKER!". It seems they are often trying to inventive with things, but the effect is that it dilutes the character somewhat.
Is Trailer Park Boys the sitcom with the most regular characters ever do you think? This could be what is making it feel a bit diluted at the moment. Although I guess most of them have always been there.
Jill... I didn't think the dark hair and facial hair on Jacob were about him being gay... but more a copy cat version of Julian's hair and look. Just obsessed with Julian.

Hey Dave, Just watched it.....I liked it! Think the whole series has been a bit incoherent, but there were some great moments in this episode...eg. liked that Julian insisted on taking Bubbles to the convention-that friendship theme has been lacking of late. Couple of great Ricky moments too -the little exchange with Sabastian Bach, when he's trying to scrounge some dope and then he turns down the signed 'photo: 'no thanks, I'm good' , plus dismantling the Shitmobile's dash to retrieve half roaches covered in gum and insects ;D. Thought you'd like the camp in the carpark? Especially when they just drive away, leaving all their shit behind!!! Need to watch it again later...........there's always lots of stuff I miss first time around. On the characters...think maybe it's that the boys apart, there's no real core anymore is there. While we're going through this (inevitably short lived) period of the sober Jim Lahey who's an ally of the boys, the storylines can't revolve around the tried and trusted 'boys up to no good, Lahey's out to get them' centrepiece. Plus, there's no Cory and Trevster now, so the characters are interacting in different ways. Maybe that's why it feels 'diluted' /incoherent? PS. Sure there were a few anti-US digs that passed us by Edit: the very idea of Ricky trying to get through anything-let alone a model train convention-straight, tickled me too

This is a bit crappy. Hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the show too much, but thought it would be of interest to you all. CLICKLooks like there are likely other explanations for some of the things we're finding puzzling.

jesus......Dave will shit bricks when he reads this......how depressing. Haha... yes, it was all pretty depressing... with Barrie Dunn and Mike Smith seemingly coming off worst of all. The one saving grace is that Mike Jackson still likes Mike Clattenburg the director. Imagine that though, people improving quality jokes and Mike Smith thieving them! Pretty unpleasant.... but the thing is, I bet alot of the lines are actually funnier coming from Bubbles. Still not nice though.

I felt a bit conflicted about posting that link, but thought it was just so interesting for TPBs fans that I had to. I've only read through it once, quickly, but it is pretty depressing. I suppose quarrels and resentment about money almost inevitably follows success (though if what he says is true, some of the cast do seem to have treated pretty shabbily). I disagreed with quite a lot of what he said about the declining quality and, for me, the Xmas special and, of course, the 'talking puppet' episode were excellent. But what he said about the Movie resonated-reproducing stuff from the shows and pitching for a very different (US) audience. Also wondered if his insinuation that Clattenberg's lost creative control to some degree, explains why we're now getting a sense that somehow it's not quite 'TPB' anymore. Certainly does seem to have lost a lot of its simple charm of late.....
That said, there are still some splendid moments and lines..........

Just watched 5. Disappointing really. Only line that made me smile was Ricky's 'look at the f*cking scratches on my car.' Looks like this is going to be a pretty patchy season.....

It was still totally disjointed. I really don't like the way that whole series seems to be one huge episode split into 10 parts. The story is never concluded from one episode to the next. Trailer Park Boys was great because it had self-contained stories in each episode, but also incorporated longer story threads aswell. I wonder if this series was previously another idea for the TPB movie? Could be plausible seeing as it seems to be one long story split into bits. I can barely remember a thing from these new epsiodes after watching them. That never used to happen.

I can barely remember a thing from these new epsiodes after watching them. That never used to happen. Dave, when I logged on earlier to post, I was intending to post 'TBP RIP' But that's harsh, especially since there are in fact another 7 to go.... ....so I thought I'd post: 'episode 5 is shite' But I just couldn't bring myself to do it-be like putting the boot into a dear friend... But it has to be said that something is rotten in Sunnyvale and this season is relying too much (if not wholly) on the good will of its devoted fans. TPB was always about improvisation, but there's a difference between having a good concept and improvising the details and making it up on the hoof. The 'linchpin' of the series (the drunk/obsessive Lahey) is gone; the major foil (Cory and Trevster) has gone....but rather than think about how the show will now develop, they've gone for ill thought out and (come on let's say it) lazy, disjointed storylines and tired jokes. It pains me to say these things (truly). Wasn't so long ago that I rated TPB above just about any other comedy.....but if you think back to the magic of the Cart Boy, this is a travesty. The love's gone......
