What has happened to my beloved TPB? This series so far has been really patchy. I still haven't seen the (recent) movie - is it any good?

The film is a bit 'Trailer Park Boys lite' because it was made for fans and newcomers alike, but season 7 has made me realise it was a pretty great effort after all.

Got to agree with you all, since watching episodes 4 & 5 I've been extremely dissapointed. There is a distinct lack of cohesion so far that I really believed would have been addressed by now, but I watched ep 5 and didn't manage a single chuckle. I think you're spot on Dave about the one big plot line. Bring back Conky and get him to fetch a tanker full of liquor for Lahey.

Bring back Conky and get him to fetch a tanker full of liquor for Lahey. Haha, but I've always liked the fact they have never brought Conky back because the show has (had?) real integrity and wouldn't ever stoop to such blatant crowd pleasing antics. Watching season 7 however, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought Conky back. Obviously it has the potential to be funny, but I think it would be another potential nail in the Sunnyvale coffin.

Episode 6... the story plods on.
The first ten minutes of this episode, I was right back in there and it felt quite like the good old days. Ricky reprising his tumble down the grass bank at the shopping mall with a stupid turn on a river bank. It was over done, but in a good way, I was laughing all the way. But alas, it soon became quite plodding again. Hardly any characters in it, and what is with those two mates of Jacob? I wonder if the actors are under contract to never speak?!?!
As we have been fearing, this series certainly looks like some kind of long drawn out death rattle, with just a few quality moments along the way.
Worst of all, it taints your memory of what has come before. But no matter what, series 1 - 6 is pure comedy gold!

Despite my miserable 'last post', I'm still hoping for a turn around-alas from what you say, doesn't look like it's going to happen...... Still, like you say, important to remember that 1-6 were truly magic and in comedy terms that's no mean feat.

Yeah sadly I think you've summed it up perfectly-plodding with the occasional memory of TPB magic. I don't know about death rattle. Maybe this is just making the show in a hurry to capitalise and/or being complacent. If it's that rather than the concept/characters having burnt out, then it might recover. I don't think it'll taint my memory of the really great episodes though-just have to learn how to forget this season .

There's a reply to MJ's post on the TPB site from Jean Paul Tremblay. It's not nasty, but it is pretty angry. Personally, I don't much care what goes on 'behind the scenes'-I doubt there'd be much comedy I'd like if I based by judgments on what the 'characters' were like in real life, but it's pretty sad nevertheless. Kind of get the impression that there has been a lot of pressure to capitalise on TPB success and the cast and crew are all close to burn out. Most great comedies only run to 5 or 6 series max don't they? Even if this isn't the death knell for our beloved TPB, definitely think they need to take a break.....

Can't find the reply on the original MySpace entry. Any link?
I see that Corey has replied though. They are definitely good mates!

Dave it's on: www.trailerparkboys.org/. There's a thread on MJ's post (in TPB news) I wont post the actually thread address-it's up to people if they want to read it.......all this squabbling is kind of depressing. I know we're all intelligent enough to distinguish between reality and fiction, but nevertheless it does detract from the heart of/in the show.....

Blimey, now there's a 'The TRUTH about MJ's "The Truth About TPB's" rant' thread on TPB.org-contributions from Bubbles, MJ again, Cory again and even Officer Green!

Well that's all a bit sour.
But the Officer George Green actor sounds like a real sound bloke.
Anyway. Series 3 Episode 7!
I thought it was a great improvement over the last few epsiodes, and many of the reasons for my enjoyment were the simple things: It was set in the Trailer Park! It featured lots of the characters. That's something that is always so great about the show. Lots of characters all getting a good look in. Phil Collins really is a great character.
I actually laughed a few times in this episode (unlike the previous one). One cheeky little comment from Sam "greasy caveman" Losco cheered me right up. "Get moving Easy Lover" haha who did he say that to I wonder! ;D
Lahey back on the booze! Not entirely necessary, but the dynamic that the drunk Lahey Park Supervisor brought to proceedings was pretty sublime wasn't it!
The sign for "The Dirty Burger" is still making me laugh now. A burger with the sullen heads of Randy and Phill looking over it. Great.
