Episode 9!
Not a bad episode. Had some great new Trailer Park Boys moments, like Randy and Lahey passed out on the trailer roof and then being 'netted'.
However.. what is going on with Conky? If bringing Conky back wasn't desperate enough, he know seems to be some kind of supernatural entity! Really odd.. there were scenes where you could see Bubbles was doing the Conky voice (as it should be), but other scenes involved Bubbles having his mouth firmly shut, or drinking beer while Conky still spoke! That's just not right! haha
I see Jacob's mates still haven't spoken a single word. That's bugging me for some reason. I remember seeing them in photos before this series began and thought that they looked a possible good comedy replacement for Cory and Trevor... but nope, they are almost pointless.
Anyway, I am relatively excited to see how the season ends now.

I kind of liked it. Not many good one liners and, like the early episodes, a lot of it was work-the exposition of the plot. But I loved Jim and Randy in the net;D. I'm not sure about Conky. See what you mean, but I'm not quite so offended by his comeback . Kind of like the way they've made him (even more) creepy and while making him sort of amenable was odd at first, I thought they rescued it at the end (literally). I thought the Bubbles drinking while Conky was talking was just a bit of a cheeky joke-the classic ventriloquist routine (Bubbles and Ricky were laughing during that bit)-and I liked it. At least they're tying up the ends-Phil Collins stolen meat (explains the opening scene of 1?). What are the odds that they're ALL going to end up doing jail time? Edit: unrelated to TPB-the site's a bit of a morgue at the moment? Looks like we're the only ones who really don't watch BB

At least they're tying up the ends-Phil Collins stolen meat (explains the opening scene of 1?). It's things like that which make me think that this series was originally an alternative movie script. Like I mentioned before, the series is just one long story stretched over 10 episodes. if it was a film it might have worked much better because it wouldn't take you ten weeks to see the whole thing. Phil Collins is under-used in my opinion. If this series had been like all previous series (in that each episode had it's own story as well as continuing a series long story arc), and Phil was a new main character, then he would have been featured a lot more. Oooo! I just thought... maybe it was originally a movie script, and it was originally Cory and Trevor who were doing the roles that are now filled by Jacob's non speaking buddies? Or something. haha

You might well be right Dave. The movie and this series are definitely a departure from the classic format and I think a lot of this probably is best explained by behind the scenes goings on. I think Mike C was angling for a US distribution deal while this season was being written/made (which didn't come off, it seems). So I think maybe it was written with a new audience in mind? My reaction to 7 has been very like my reaction to the movie, a bit disappointed, but 'making allowances.' I'm not sure how I feel about them trying to take the show somewhere else. On the one hand I agree with you-there is/was something completely magic (maybe unique) about TPB 1-6 and it's a bit of a travesty (if such a thing-a bit-is possible) to abandon that, but I also wonder how long it's possible to work a formula before it becomes too familiar and, so, disappointing. Most classic comedies only run for a few series don't they? Maybe this is anathema to some, but I sort of think they should end it now (while we're all still wanting a bit more)? Mike C has real talent (I think he's a Canadian Wes Anderson-but that's just me-needs some explanation and personally I'd like to see what else he can do.

Episode 10! The season finale! *SPOILERS*
Well I thought it was all mostly good stuff. Admittedly it was mostly because it was a definite ending and fared well against the rest of the season (but not so well against the classic season 1-6!). I really liked the ending as each character did a voice-over for themselves. That was done in the true spirit of the old TPBs. I reckon that the ending is even more of an indication that this season was originally a film script. It felt like a real film ending to me. Best bit about the ending though.... it felt like everything was reset to how it was in the good old days. Almost as if the creators were saying, "we know this season has been a bit weird... but please stick with us!". I think it's another tell-tale sign that this season was originally a movie script because the ending resets the characters to their familiar old selves... like at the end of a movie with the characters all being a bit watered down for new-comers, the ending sets back up the 'hardcore' character traits again.
"I quit the force... I was born to be a drunk trailer park supervisor"
This last episode also gave me the biggest laugh for a long while! When Ricky, Julian and Bubbles (aka The Scorpion) are trying to flee from Lahey and the park rangers and are floating about in that weird amphibious vehicle and Conky says: "Todays getaway was brought to you by the letter F..."
I nearly cried over that one. The actual joke had another line after that to kind of spell it out, but I loved that opening line without the explanation.
Hooray... looking forward to more TPB now that all seems to have been set right in the world of Sunnyvale! ;D

Episode 10 *SPOILERS*
Re-watched it just now. I forgot about the other stuff at the end that 'resets' the series to the old days:
J-Roc and T... both back in their rap style clothes and even talking about perhaps recording a new rap record in the future maybe. I was never all that keen on J-Roc and Tyrone in their suits looking like pimps. Didn't fit their characters for me.
Ray: "The way she fucking goes!"
Finally... the biggest return to TPB tradition.... BOTTLE KIDS!!

Finally get a chance to see this when it airs and I end up missing the first 15 mins-d'oh. Probably should have passed on the whole thing, but couldn't resist. Anyways, the ending was great-even if I didn't know how they all got there-ha, ha. Will have to wait until Sunday now to see the whole thing. Be back then!

Ha, ha...here we go, more contradictions from me....
SPOILERS
I really loved this one!!!!
Hated BAAAM and Loch Ness Monster nuts (or whatever it was), but the rest of it was great. The entire arrest scene was superb-Ricky at his finest. I thought a few shows back that there were maybe some anti-US gags in this series that were passing us by and I definitely think there was US piss taking going on here-'all you flash guys, your FBI and ATF or whatever you're called and our fucky the drunk clown and his gut buddy and these two dicks' (don't remember the quote) ;D. And I also loved the (second) demise of Conky ;D.
It's been an odd season hasn't it? Not sure about the alternative movie script ('though see what you mean). Maybe they just wanted to try to take it somewhere else and the recent experience of writing a longer storyline influenced what they did. I agree with you though that if we'd watched the whole thing as one continuous story without the breaks, the 'flat' bits wouldn't have been so disappointing.
That said, looking back over the recent posts on the thread, I think there have only been two really disappointing shows? All the others have had some classic TPB moments and IMO the last two were almost back to TPB at its best. Be interesting to watch them all again in a couple of months.
The voice overs at the end were great (especially Lahey and Ricky). I read somewhere that Mike C is keen to move on to something new. Made me wonder.....felt like a final wrap up to me.
Edit: And finally some quotable lines, not least of which was: 'Lahey, how drunk are you?'; '6 out of 10' ;D

Just wondering if any TPBs fans have managed to see the Heart of Dartmouth documentary about the making of and, if so, if it's available anywhere. I came across a tvlinks stream recently and started to watch it. Looked interesting and had little clips from One Last Shot. It was really frustrating though-kept stopping (buffering, whatever that is-don't have a clue about these things) and then sticking, so I gave up after 8 mins. Anybody?

Just seeing this thread rekindled has got me all excited for Trailer Park Boys again. I may actually just bite the bullet and order the Canadian edition DVDs for the rest of the seasons. I can't see them being released here. I think I still have that documentary somewhere (it's from off of that internet). Is that the documentary hosted by Mike Clattenburg's wife?

Yes, that's the one....do you know where I might be able to get it?
Apparently they've started filing the next special...features a Delorean! (car, as in Back to the Future, not sure about spelling).

Checked the TPBs site for the first time in months tonight......there's a rumour going round that there'll be no season 8. They've just finished filming a one -off special and then it's finiteto appently. Not sure how I feel about the news (should it prove to be true)...bit conflicted...sad that it's the end, but at the same time happy to know they're not going to 'do a Simpsons' and keep milking it long after it's lost all charm, just because they're still an audience/money in it. Anyhoo..roll on the special....maybe we can have a final flurry of classics quotes and tributes ....our own requiem?

I think it's all good news. If season 7 was anything to go by, then the old magic is running dry. Best to quit before the show gets utterly crap and tarnishes the memory of the earlier seasons.
Really looking forward to the special though. Without having to write and shoot a film at the same time, then perhaps this will be a quality swan song. I wonder if they made the decision to have no more seasons before they wrote and shot the special? If so, there could be one hell of ending in store!
