PS, have any of you guys and gals seen the Xmas special yet? Yeah.. although I can't seem to recall what happens in it now. All I can remember for certain is Lahey wearing a carrier bag on the face to represent a Santa's beard! haha I must watch it again!

Hi Jill, Yep I've seen the Christmas Special. Ricky at midnight mass is right up there with his court appearance in season 3. Like you say the good news is there will be a season 7 due to air in Canada in April 2007, but the bad news is that Corey and Trevster won't be in it. Fortunately there is a wealth of characters and it appears that all the others will still be in it. There are some rumours floating around the TPB forum that season 7 might be the last, although I did notice that TPB seems to be slowly gaining an American audience and if so this might prompt more seasons to be commissioned.

Hi dokdrain-some great monickers on this site, where does this come from? I really enjoyed the Xmas special. It contains my all time favourite scene (Bubble's present-sweet). Also really laughed at Ricky's confusion over 'the big guy'! Felt a bit like I/we were being let into 'secrets'-e.g origin of Randy's trousers. And loved the end 'you wouldn't catch me riding around in a piece of shit like this'!! Jill

Just re-watched the Chirstmas episode. Somehow I had forgotten most of it (I guess it must be because there is so much Trailer Park Boys to get lost in). I had forgotten all about Ricky's confusion regarding Santa. hahaha... priceless
"You're saying you've never got those two mixed up Bubbles?" "Nope, never mixed up those two"
Bubbles present is a great story running through it. One of the funniest things for me is Mr Lahey's Santa beard made of a tattered carrier bag! haha
I like the fact it is set chronologically before the first series happens because you get little in jokes about what happens 'in the future'. The main one I recall is Ricky trashing up Julian's car, thus creating the 'shitmobile'. Then later as Ricky paint rollers the car with black paint he says, "... I'll tell you one thing, you'd never catch me driving a piece of shit like this!"

Dave, your post prompted me to visit the TBP site-seems The Big Dirty will be released on dvd on 13 February...can't wait, getting withdrawal symptoms. Know I keep going on about it, but the Bubble's present scene brings a tear to my eye (sentimental wuss that I am). It really captures everything that's magic about the show for me. I also like the in-jokes: 'call me Mr. Lahey, always, always...'I like 'Halloween' for the same reason.....My bro's off work at the moment, so I took him a pile of dvds when I visited, including TPB 1 & 2-but he just doesn't get it. I find that really strange; I think it deserves to be massive and can't fathom why it isn't.....um, think I might go dig out the pilot-only seen it once and it was a while ago...

Yeah the Bubbles opening the present scene is a teary one! Like you say, that scene really pinpoints what Trailer Park Boys is all about, yet to an outsider to the show, there's no way you would ever think that from descriptions of it.
Just wondering... are you the person that put up a great glowiing review of TPB on Amazon somewhere? Just wondering.. for some reason I thought it might be you (writing style I guess).
The pilot is great... didn't get round to it for ages, because I thought it might be a bit weak (compared to series), plus there is no Bubbles! But no.. it's amazing.... and the beginning of series one is from the pilot I realised hahaha. I previously really liked the fact that you get the clip of them in a gun fight over a dog at the beginning of series one.. without explanation! haha was nice and odd... but then I realised it was part of the pilot!

Yes, the pilot, Xmas special and Halloween really help to bring the characters (and Sunnyvale) to life and give them added depth. Unrelated, but I also like the very occasional homage to Pulp Fiction. The gag balls and chains episode is an obvious example, but there's also a scene in one of the early episodes where Ricky is shot and Julian makes a call in the car-'we've got a situation here' No, I didn't post the review on Amazon. This is the only site I've ever posted on. Oddly enough, I was reading a review of Harold and Maude on Amazon the other day and had a strong feeling it had been written by Dave 2. I signed up to the TPB site (monicker I am the Liquor) but haven't contributed anything yet. I do contribute stuff to journals occasionally (the details are too boring to divulge) and I am working hard to find credible ways to work in some references to Shane's films....I think TPB's would be too much of a stretch:)

TPB Christmas special is showing on the Paramount Comedy channel again over the festive period. I think it might be on Friday night (22nd) about 11:30 or 12:00 and will probably be shown at least once more after that. Cheers for the news on the Big Dirty DVD release Jill, I'll have to send across the pond as soon as it's available. Was there any mention of a cinematic release for the UK ?

Alas, no. But I didn't really search the site-just viewed the 'news' thread. Would love to see it at the cinema, but I suppose we'll just have to wait until Feb....way it goes. Love, Jill

I just had a quick look around and all could find is something about the film getting a distributor for the US who will release the film next year. The Xmas episode seems to have had a new re-release on DVD "Liquor and Dope Edition" (in Canada).... it has some documentaries on it (but I think I have them already ). The old Xmas DVD edition came bundled with a Conky finger puppet! haha. Will Amazon.ca let you order stuff from them? I recall trying to buy something via the US Amazon, and it wasn't allowed. Where do you lot get non UK DVDs from?

On the pilot, I watched it again t'other night and I'd completely forgotten Julian's puppy dog story-even though it's sort of central to the story..marvellous..Cory and Trevor's -we must go now'(or something)-brilliant! Ha! What's wrong with the rest of the world? Why don't 'they' get it? How can the rest of the world (or site) not love these guys? I'm a little bit pisshed...Love to all y'all

Dave, I've ordered TPB from Amazon.com (US) and Amazon.ca. Don't think there's a problem so long as you can play region 1 on your DVD player. take care, Jill
