It's there, hidden by hair and even if it wasn't you could get tattoos removed in 86.
Both my dad's brothers had crosses removed off there foreheads in the 80's.
It's so funny how people try and pick period fault with things. On the budget we had, it's a miracle there's any wide shots in the whole series. We had 50% less money per Square Inch than the film and in some places i think the series looks even better (my eps of course ;D) so the fact that people go on about pizza crusts makes me laugh when I know how bad it could have looked had we all not worked our fingers to the bone and for such pittance to make the series work.
There are tons of 'mistakes' in this and all my other films if you choose to look. I tend to go with the drama and the feel rather than technical perfection, so if hunting out flaws is your bag, I'm your man.

I never even notice stuff like that. Too busy watching the story. ;D I always think that imperfections are needed. When something is too polished, it loses some of its charm and soul. Your films are chockablock with both charm and soul - which is why I rate them.

so if hunting out flaws is your bag, I'm your man. I'm sure there are students across the country that will take that as their lead to create a drinking game based around pointing out goofs in your flicks now. I'm terrbible at noticing shit like that - I remember years ago a mate of mine tried poiniting out the boom in a scene from Predator about six times and I still couldn't see it. I'm shit at seeing those Magic Eye things too, but then again, I think if you can genuinely see a picture of something among a mass of blots and squiggles you're just a step away from murdering your mother. ;D

Yeah, I totally agree that these things are incidental and that my focus is definitely on the drama. I just find it quite amazing what people manage to pick up on. You can imagine their trauma as they spot a pizza crust! haha

I'm sure I spotted a shade of emulsion on a wall that wasn't actually available before march 1987 which was obviously applied with a paint roller and not a wallop brush ............. I'll get my coat

I thoroughly enjoyed this. A few big plusses:
a) Banjo's a geordie? Wow. He barely spoke a word in the film so I just saw him as a massive thug. Now he's a loveable thug.
b) Milky lives!
c) It hasn't lost it's atmosphere and I'm eager to see just how the characters have grown in the 3 years, aside from the haircuts.
Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

What I've been wondering is... Trev. Mysterious, enigmatic, inscrutable, Sphinx-like Trev. What does she sound like? I think she had one line in the film and so far barely a murmur has tumbled from her lips. Is Trev the Mona Lisa of the gang? Is she going to be the real dark heart of this series? What are you thinking lass? Speak Trev. Speak.

I mean is it...'there was no frozen pizza crust in 1986, I've been eating frozen pizza everyday for 30 years and I distinctly remember eating my first-previously-frozen pizza crust in May 1987'? Or do they research it? It's just bizarre-who cares?

Possibly not Newcastle but somewhere nearby. I watched a bit of DMS last and there's def a north east twang in Gypsy John's voice.

Ello! Just read through this thread. Been real busy so haven't been able to post for a while. Safe to say, I DID watch TIE 86' on tues night. I loved it. Like many others have said, my main complaint is the ad breaks. Which is unavoidable! Like Chrome and Dave. I do not watch much TV at all. I check out the odd Comedy, but even find it hard to keep up with them. Doing shift work means I'm never in the same nights every week. It's not that I don't like TV, i'm sure there's some good stuff, that I'd enjoy. I just don't have time for it. I'd rather be watching a film, making a film, on the internet or at work! The opening.. wow. Blew me away. Perfect. I always loved that deleted scene from TIE and like Jill says, I understand why it was cut, but still felt it'd have been amazing in the film. I very glad it's been put to use here, and it works wonderfully well. Can't believe some forumites didn't know the whole scene from the DVD deleted scenes! There's another one where Shaun meets up with Milky, answering the question "Is Milky okay?" ages ago! I guess, it not being in the film, it could have been either way though. Beautiful edit in the rain there.. absolutely perfect. The best opening. Flip - ha ha! He was great. I didn't think he was too OTT... Like others have said I've known a few people like this. I thought he was hilarious! Chips dialogue was great. Interesting to see Banjo in the gang, be cool to find out how he made the transition to all round nice bloke, as he was shockingly brutal in TIE, especially at the end. And now he's bringing vol-au-vents to weddings! ha ha! McClure was absolutely superb. You see it all in her eyes. Very, very good performance. Really good to see Lol's story. Tom Harper did a good job I reckon. It didn't feel totally quintessentially "Meadows" but it wasn't ever going to be was it? That's not the point. I think it was very well directed, performances were all strong (need to watch again for a better opinion on this). Never seen any of Tom Harper's films, but I'm sure he's got his mark on it. I take my hat off to him. Favourite scenes? Shaun and Smell's hospital scene, nice way to find out why Shaun isn't really in the gang anymore. Really felt like their scenes in the film. Also, Lol and Milky's scene was superb, beautifully shot, and performances from both were spot on. That's all my thoughts I think! Will just say it's a shame not to see Kez and Pukey. Harvey is good, like someone else has said, be good to see Shaun and him meet up again. Also, on the topic of mistakes. I never spotted any.. I wasn't alive in 86 though. I don't look out for this sort of thing anyway. That pizza thing is mental! Generally though, I tend to spot camera shadows. Have mentioned it before on the forum. I didn't notice any here though! Ha ha.

Even in the film though, Shaun's mum says Milky's gonna be okay! I've seen a few "I thought he was dead in the film" comments on Facebook and that. Did it come across that Shaun's mum in the film was saying it in a "Milky's gone to heaven" way?

I thought Shaun's Mum was saying it because it was true, however, I guess she could have been saying to stop Shaun getting any more upset for the time-being if Milky WAS in in a critical state.
