Anyone see in Empire they're making a new Teenage Ninja Turtles film? With CGI?
Yeah.. there's a trailer online... search on Apple site I guess. Looks okay.. but it's just a teaser, it tells you nothing. Apparently the film has been inspired by The Third Man... just in looks though I think.
I saw a teaser trailer for Hot Fuzz the other day at the cinema. So very short... not much in it. Starts with Pegg conducting a talk and Frost asking a stupid question.. then just a load of diving about with two guns like El Mariachi or Desperado.
Just checked out the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer. Although i'm a bit opposed to it because of my childhood loves of the old cartoon, and the Live Action Movies (the first of which was one of the most grossing independant films of all time) The new one actually doesn't look too bad. I guess with CGI they can do a lot more in the way of stunts and stuff which would be cool. And the characters still seem to be intact (at least Micheal Angelo's does, he clumsily falls into a dumpster in the trailer, ha ha, awesome)
anyone else's thoughts on the film?
as for the Hot Fuzz trailers, both awesome! The fence one (a massively obvious reference to SotD) had me in hilarity for 2 minutes ha ha. Absolutely brilliant. Kinda wish i didnt see it, ruins the gag for the film, but there'll be pleanty more! i can't wait!
I posted it on a different thread and I'll post it here too.
MISCHIEF NIGHT!!
I did the locations! Filmed in Leeds last year, it was a v difficult project - themes including young muslims growing up in Britain etc. 7th July bombings happened while we were filming and by 12th July, the World's media had descended on our main filming area - Beeston! We were literally filming in a house a stone's throw from one of the bomber's houses, it was unbelievable I can tell you. At one point I really thought the whole thing was going to turn into another "Lost in La Mancha" but everything finally got filmed. Early reports are very positive, which is nice! Would be great to know what you all think of the trailer..

Yeah that is fucking crazy when you think about it.
At work, we just screened a preview of a Korean film called The Host. It was part of a weird festival we do called ResFest.
Anyway, the little bits I saw of it looked brilliant. It's basically like an old style monster movie, but in a very real kind of set-up full of dark humour. The story seemed to be something along the usual lines chemicals dumped in a river cause this big weird monster to grow from soemthign or other. The CGI isn't the best you've ever seen, but the from what I saw, it looked like the rest of the film was so nicely done it just didn't matter at all. Plus, they were doing really inventive things with the creature and camera shots, which also meant you didn't care when it occasionally looked dodgy.
It had me so enthralled at the beginning, I made myself not watch any more because I now want to watch it properly. Amazingly I see it is screening at the Bath Film Fest tomorrow night, so hopefully I'll see it (instead of TIE London premier hehe)... then TIE the next day!
UK Trailer:
IMDB says it's released here on the 11th November. I can't see it being a multiplex release, even though it would probably suit it down to the ground..... it's just your local chav will probably get violent if confronted with a subtitled film.
Goes without saying that I can't wait to see TIE. Just wondering if any of you very film literate people know anything about Lynne Ramsey's forthcoming film The Lovely Bones? Loved Ratcatcher (Thought Movern Callar was OK) and really looking forward to this one. It's been advertsied as 'upcoming' for (seemingly) eons, but no release date as yet. Anybody got any info? Thanks, Jill

Doh! Well guess I'm off the pace as usual (how very clever you are). I read the book some time ago and heard Lynne Ramsey had bought the rights. As you no doubt know, the book is written in first person narrative. The subject matter is dark, but the narrative has an innocent, childlike (of course) quality and I was intrigue to see how a film maker like Ramsey would handle it. Pity she wasn't (it seems) able to see it through. Does anybody know what she is working on now? Would love to see some more of her work. Jill
How very clever I am? hahaha Not at all.... it's just that I am a bit of Peter Jackson fan, so heard about it a while ago.... although he also seems to have a remake of The Dambusters on the cards too.
After all his big effects heavy epics, Jackson said he really wants to make a smaller, low-key film. I'm not too familiar with the book, other than what I've read in articles concerning Jackson making the film. From what I've heard of the story, Jackson really could make an excellent version, especially if you take Heavenly Creatures as a benchmark. It will be great to see him do something on that scale again.
Reminds me... not seen Braindead for so long now! Need to dig out the VHS! ;D

i loved morvern callar but i loved the book and knew what to expect, not sure how i would have taken it otherwise. Lovely Bones has one scene in that made me feel sick, which even tho i am a big reader, never happened before. think if P jackson makes it in the same vein as Heavenly Creatures he could do a great job.Braindead ? Might have ti dig out the vhs myself...
28 Weeks Later could be interesting. It's a different director and (pretty decent) cast. The guy who wrote Last Resort co-wrote the screenplay. I'm thinking by the looks of it, it's going to show a different group of people and how they were affected by what happened in the first film, but a little bit later on, a la The Romero quadrilogy.
