Only one film worth watching this year. Alan Partridge the movie in production. Was on the monkey tennis set today. This is quite true. Although if you knew the full Partridge story, you'd know that after being poo-pooed by the BBC, the Monkey Tennis idea went on to be picked up in Taiwan where it ran for two years. After which it had reached the end of its natural life, as had some of the monkeys. The surviving monkeys were "quickly and humanely destroyed". ;D I've just been re-listening to the I, Partridge audio-biography- book again incase you're wondering!

I'm kinda looking forward to Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby adaptation -- I liked the book when I read it in high school, plus my mom and I saw the trailer when we went to see Les Mis, and we thought it looked pretty cool (she hopes I can take her to see Gatsby for Mother's Day) -- but last week I heard that the rapper Jay-Z (aka Mr. Beyonce) was doing the score. I'm staying cautiously optimistic...

Only just heard about this horror film called The Bay which came out yesterday. Sounds really good, not least because it is a found footage film which apparently does something different and isn't another mediocre effort trying to use the style to cover a lack of ideas! Well, that's what I've heard.

Wong Kar Wai slipped off my radar a bit since the disappointing Blueberry Nights. Really looking forward to this one though:

The World's End teaser trailer came out today. Looks like another enjoyable Wright/Pegg/Frost film is on it's way! Paddy Considine is one of the main gang in the film too!
Fence jumping gag? Check! No visual on the mint Cornetto in the trailer though.

Looks good, Dave -- the fence bit especially made me giggle. Nice to see Paddy in front of the camera again, too!

New trailer for Pacific Rift just came out! Please let this be the one good film about giant things hitting each other! Guillermo Del Torro increases the chances of it being so!

There's quite a buzz building up now for this long awaited film about the 70s Northern Soul scene: www.northernsoulthefilm.com/news/page/1The film's been in the making for a few years now. Seems the director/producer has really struggled to get funding, but there are now some pretty big names onboard-Steve Coogan, Ricky Tomlinson, Lisa Stansfield and Emily Ashton are all in it! Looks like there have been advanced screenings, but can't work out when it's getting a general release. Anybody know? I enjoyed Soul Boy-mainly for the sound track-butI am sure there is a really good film about Northern Soul waiting to be made. Hope this is it. In the meantime, for anybody who missed it, there's a good little Culture Show feature here, that includes an interview with the director Elaine Constantine.
