Not quite a new Neveldine/Taylor film, but soemthing that has a pretty strong connection. It's a film called THE FP It seems to stand for Frazier Park which is somewhere in California. The Neveldine/Taylor connection is that the film is written and directed by the The Brothers Trost, Brandon and Jason. Brandon is Neveldine/Taylor's long-term cinematographer. THE FP also sounds like something as demented as any Neveldine/Taylor project: "Set in a vaguely post-apocalyptic near future (or perhaps a terrifyingly silly alternate universe circa 1985), the ‘Escape From New York’-esque opening scroll and narration set the stage: there are two rival gangs locked in a continuous battle for control of the town of Frazier Park and while their goals may be conventional, their methods are certainly not — battles are not conducted through violent altercations on the streets, but rather through one-on-one competitions in a dancing arcade game called Beat Beat Revelations." Brilliant. It also seems to be very much in the same style as the Crank films going by one reviewer: "It’s all so very silly, but the film refuses to acknowledge that fact, treating every moment and performance with a deadpan stoicism that manages to simultaneously mock and revere every convention the Trost brothers are parodying. The comedy of ‘The FP’ does not come from jokes or gags, but from the film’s steadfast, almost level-headed commitment to an absolutely ludicrous premise. The laughs are the same kind you get from watching idiotic blockbusters like ‘Armageddon’, but the difference here is that they’re intentional." So like the Crank films, it sounds like another 'punk' film that the meat-headed action fan simply won't get the point of. Can't wait. I've also read Brian Taylor describe it as looking like a "Jerry Bruckheimer action movie from the ’80s". It's got Johnny Vang in it!

I just stumbled upon this trailer for a Norwegian horror film called The Troll Hunter! It looks like great fun! Says it was uploaded Jan 2010 so maybe it's already on DVD in the UK... I must check! Just quickly quoting myself here: It's not on DVD, and in fact I see that Total Film mention it as a film coming soon in their latest issue. I'm so ahead of Total Film! ;D Can't believe no one has commented on this trailer! It's brilliant!!

Hobo With A Shotgun
Briefly read something online about this, about how mental it is basically. An unapologetic exploitation film about, well, a hobo with a shotgun dishing out vengeance to the scumbags of society... like crooked cops and paedo santas apparently. Well, that's the gist of it I think.
Rutger Hauer plays the hobo in question, and the trailer really is quite gruesome and with plenty of bad taste thrown in too. I'm kind of intrigued by the way it's shot and the potential it has to be disgusting fun, but on the other hand, it reminds me a bit too much of all that Troma Films crap. Never liked any of that tat. The colour palette of the film looks nice and pretty though. ;D
WARNING: Goretastic splattery trailer in very bad taste! Enjoy!
Just had to double-check iMDB because I'm sure you see Rob Wells of Trailer Park Boys fame get his head pulled off in that trailer! haha. It is him! Cool!

I am also looking forward to Hobo with a Shotgun. Love the lighting, and pure gore fun.
Taxi Driver is going to be re-released in the cinema soon. I still haven't seen it, so am looking forward to that one.
Hopefully Pirates 4 will be good, at least Penelope Cruz is there for eye candy.
Senna looks pretty awesome.

She looks like a proper hag in the trailer. Depp looks more feminine.

We need to talk about Kevin is being talked about at Cannes it seems. Some cautious reviews (don't like the Demon child take on Kevin it seems), but mainly positive. www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/may/12/cannes-we-need-talk-about-kevin-reviewwww.rottentomatoes.com/m/we_need_to_talk_about_kevin/Want the summer to stretch on and on and on.......but also really eager to see this. So good to see Ramsey getting some plaudits-she's had to wait a long time to make a film-especially after losing the rights to Lovely Bones-surely one of Britain's most talented directors. Edit: Looks like Tree of Life is getting really mixed reviews-everything from really good (Guardian) to booing (section of audience at Cannes)

For those members who have signed up to MUBI or might do so, you can watched some (all?) past Cannes nominated films for free during May-June.....only the first 1000 views though, so you will have to get on there sooner rather than later.

Not safe for work due to swears and breasts. Please remember that, yes, it is intentional! Directed by the the Trost brothers, Brandon and Jason. Jason is in the film too, he's the guy with the eye-patch.... which is actually real and not just for the part in the film. Beat Beat Revelation!
